Privacy Policy

Camber (“Camber,” “we,” “us”) is a car-build planner and social app for car enthusiasts. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Camber you agree to this policy.

Information you give us

  • Account: your name, username (@handle), and email address. Your password is stored only as a securely salted hash. We never store it in plain text.
  • Profile: anything you choose to add, such as a profile photo, bio, country, and your preferred units (mph/kph).
  • Vehicles & builds: the cars you add, modifications, stages, costs, performance figures, and build timelines.
  • Content you post: posts, captions, comments, photos you upload, props (likes), and who you follow.

Location information

Camber includes a live map and drive-tracking features. We only collect location when you turn these on:

  • Location sharing is opt-in. When you enable it, we collect your device’s precise location and speed so you and the people you follow can appear on the map.
  • Background location is used only if you grant the “Always” permission, so your position can stay live while the app is in the background. You can revoke this at any time in your device settings.
  • You can turn location sharing off at any time in the app; we then stop collecting it.

Information collected automatically

  • Device & push tokens: if you enable notifications, we store a push token so we can deliver them.
  • Technical & security data: your IP address and basic request logs, used to keep the service secure and to rate-limit abuse.

How we use your information

  • Provide and operate the app: your garage, feed, profiles, and leaderboards.
  • Show you and the people you follow on the live map, when you enable it.
  • Send notifications you’ve asked for (follows, comments, props, achievements).
  • Keep the service safe: moderation, abuse prevention, and security.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

How your information is shared

Content you post (profile, vehicles, posts, comments, and your live location while sharing is on) is visible to other users according to your settings, for example followers or the public feed. We also use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:

  • Vercel for application hosting.
  • Neon for database hosting (located in the EU).
  • Cloudflare R2 for storage of images you upload.
  • Expo and Apple / Google for delivery of push notifications and app distribution.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete account), which permanently removes your profile, vehicles, posts, and associated content. Some records may persist briefly in backups before being overwritten.

Security

Passwords are hashed, traffic is encrypted in transit over HTTPS, and access is authenticated with signed tokens. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data using industry-standard measures.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or contact us at studioergon@proton.me.

Children

Camber is not intended for anyone under 13 (or under 16 where required by local law). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

International users

Camber is operated with infrastructure located in the European Union. If you access the app from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the EU and other countries where our providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we’ll provide notice in the app.
